About Mel Planas
I am a psychologist and psychotherapist working with adults in processes of emotional development, self-understanding, and psychological reflection.
My clinical work focuses on individuals who are often highly functional in their professional lives yet experience internal tension, emotional fatigue, anxiety, or a sense of disconnection from themselves or others.
Today my work is centered on psychotherapy with adults living in different parts of the world. Many of my patients are professionals, executives, and expatriates navigating demanding careers, cultural transitions, and personal questions that do not always find space in their everyday environments.
Professional Background
I graduated in Psychology from São Paulo State University (UNESP) in 2001 and completed my teaching degree in Psychology at the same university in 2002. I am a registered psychologist in Brazil (CRP 06/80360).
My clinical work draws on a psychoanalytic approach and fourteen years of full-time psychotherapy practice, including ten years of experience working online.
Before turning fully to clinical practice, I spent sixteen years in strategic human capital management. That experience gave me a close understanding of the pressures of professional life, leadership, organizational environments, and the complex relationship between work and personal identity.
I see psychotherapy as a space where experiences that may feel confusing, repetitive, or difficult to put into words can gradually be explored and understood. My role is not to provide ready-made answers, but to offer careful listening and thoughtful reflection as we look together at what may be shaping the way you experience yourself, your relationships, and your life.
